Logo, designed by James Irvine, is an iconic design handle that expresses an essential and universal design approach. The simplicity of form arises from a rigorous attention to detail, to functionality and to a subtle irony. The relationship between lever and rosette is resolved through a careful balance of proportions, which reinforces the formal clarity of the whole. A contemporary door handle, conceived as a timeless object, able to adapt to different contexts while keeping its identity intact.

Logo L,
 2023

Logo L, the kind you sketch when you have to draw a pictogram of a handle. Yes, a handle, not a flower, a spaceship or a component of an engine. The simpler I drew it, the more I liked it. Later I had the idea of inflating it a little so that it looked even more like a cartoon.

James designed Logo in 2006. An iconic product that in its simplicity represents what I define as “Metodo Irvine”; a universal method made of passion for detail, functionality and irony.
Re-proportioning its design with respect to the new rosette was natural for me: an ethical gesture that looks at the product as a universal, timeless object, outside the fashions of the moment, just like Olivari’s DNA. — Marialaura Rossiello Irvine
