Andries Van Onck, Hiroko Takeda

Andries Van Onck studied in Holland with Gerrit Rietveld and graduated in 1959 from the Hochschule fŸr Gestaltung at Ulm.

He moved to Italy in 1959, where he worked for Olivetti, collaborating with Ettore Sottsass jr. in projecting some of the first electronic machines. In 1965 he opened his own studio in Milan, and has since 1972 worked with Hiroko Takeda (Japan 1945), who obtained a diploma of design from the Academy of Tokyo in 1968, and has been active in Japan in the field of design of furniture and interior decoration.

As associates, they have designed household appliances and electronic apparatuses, furniture and illumination devices for Italian and foreign manufacturers, winning the "Compasso d'oro" prize in 1979. Andries Van Onck teaches design and methodology at the ISIA in Rome.
