After graduating in architecture from the Milan Polytechnics in 1973, he carried
out activities of visual and product design, in particular designing decorations
for tapestry, fabrics and tiles.
From 1974 to 1977 he designed and realized, together with Maurizio Dallasta, the
Nomade system of upholstered furniture. From 1978 to 1981 he designed, together
with Paolo Pedrizzetti (ref.), the i Balocchi series of faucets and bathroom accessories
and the Calibro blender.
Numerous projects of various kinds resulted from the collaboration between the
two architects from 1982 to 1987; doorhandles, household appliances, furniture
accessories, faucets and accessories for the bathroom and the kitchen, accessories
for the building profession cutlery and table objects (Giotto can opener, 1987).
He has organized several cultural initiatives, such as exhibitions of the works
of young European designers, Ligh (Milan 1983. with Bepi Maggiori); Dea (1985-1987),
preview exhibition of European design; Design Trends (Rio de Janeiro, 1987) with
the purpose of promoting Brasilian design.
In 1984 he founded the Zeus group, which involved operators in the fields of fashion,
design and art. In 1988 he participated at the founding of the Mas, enterprise
for the development of design in Spain and in 1989 he organized, together with
a group of Milanese operators, the Metals space, dedicated to design and to the
working of metal.
Paolo Pedrizzetti
(Milan 1947)
Pedrizzetti graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnics in 1973. After
various experiences of planning buildings and directing building sites, he embarked
on the activity of design in 1978, collaborating with Davide Mercatali (ref).
While active in their associated studio, which remained operative from 1982 to
1988, he experimented a variety of techniques of working metals and plastics (casting
of brass, die-casting of brass and aluminium, moulding of thermoplastics and thermosettings,
cold-striking of steel, techniques of painting of metals).
In 1988 he opened his own studio, continuing his activity as a product designer,
and also became the responsible editor of professional magazines "Blu & rosso"
and "Bagno & Bagni". |
